HIGH COURT UPHOLDS DEATH SENTENCE FOR MAN CONVICTED OF MURDERS

the Tokyo High Court upheld a lower court ruling, which sentenced Toshiaki Kaga, a 44-year-old man, to death for murdering a woman and her daughter and stealing their money.
Kaga killed the 44-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, with whom he lived in Isehara, in August 2001 and stole 850,000 yen, according to the ruling. Presiding Judge Masaru Suda said the crime was cruel and the court had no option but to recommend capital punishment.
