Hungarian police said they had arrested two men suspected of killing eight people in the country's bloodiest bank robbery.
Two robbers entered a branch of Austrian-owned Erste Bank in the small western town of Mor on May 10 and opened fire indiscriminately with automatic weapons. Six people were killed on the spot. Two died later. The two men escaped with 7.3 million forints ($29,370).
The cold-blooded slaughter sent shockwaves through a small central European nation which rarely sees such violence, and prompted calls for the reintroduction of the death penalty.
Both suspects are aged 27 and from Budapest. If convicted they face possible life sentences.
