Ilyas Sheikh, 30, was sentenced to death in absentia by a court in Bagerhat, Bangladesh, for killing his elder brother at Chandipur in the Moralganj district. According to the prosecution, Sheikh mercilessly beat elder brother Oliur Rahman, 38, in a dispute over money and property on March 23, 1999. Oliur died on his way to hospital.
