In March, the High Court in the Côte d'Ivoire sentenced 6 people aged between 18 and 20 to death for armed robbery. They were arrested earlier in the month at a police checkpoint. It was the first time the sentence has been passed in the country, following a recent decision by Parliament to introduce the death penalty to try and curb rising crime.
