In Memphis, Judge Bernice Donald temporarily blocked the execution of Philip Workman pending resolution of a federal appeals court review of another Tennessee murder conviction. Donald said a U.S. 6th Circuit review of the murder conviction of Abu-Ali Abdur'Rahman could affect the legal standing of Workman's latest appeals. Workman was scheduled to die September 22.
