in Nigeria, Dr Jude Akubuilo, the Special Adviser to Governor Chime on Special Projects and Diaspora Matters, disclosed the intention of the government to initiate a bill providing capital punishment for kidnapping and conspiracy to commit the act. The proposed bill, apart from death penalty, would also seek the confiscation of the property of anyone convicted of the offence or being accomplice to the act. He added: “As everyone knows, this state has been enjoying a high level of security. This, in turn, has led to an explosion in commercial and recreational activities around the state and we are determined not to let anyone or anything destroy or undermine that situation.”
