In occasion of the UN Commission on Human Rights held in Geneva, Iulia Antoanella Motoc, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), said that despite positive developments, the situation in the DRC remained very grave. Motoc called on the Government to observe a moratorium on capital punishment, to adopt a Congolese Charter for human rights, and to continue to implement measures to demobilize children, prevent the looting of natural resources, and protect human rights defenders.
