In October, representatives of the Angolan mission at the United Nations in New York said that at the beginning of the year, because of increasing criminality, a group of judges called for the reintroduction of the death penalty. This proposal was not accepted by the majority of the judges. Neither did politicians consider any proposal for the reintroduction of the death penalty.
