In Pomona, a jury has recommended the death penalty for James Winslow Dixon for the August 2001 murder of Christina Burmeister, 20. Dixon's lawyers conceded their client participated in the heinous murder, but argued that he may not have been as instrumental in the killing as prosecutors portrayed him. Prosecutors linked Dixon to the murder both by DNA and through the testimony of 1 of his accomplices, Henry Singer. Singer, who pleaded guilty to the murder, received a 25-years to life sentence after agreeing to cooperate in the case.
