in Thrissur, India, District Sessions Judge B Kamalpasha sentenced a person identified as Shygil to death for the murder of the chief oracle of Koorikuzhi Hanuman- Bhadrakali temple on March 27, 2007. The third accused, Subin, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Of the six accused in the case, the other four are on the run. The gang was charged with attacking a person identified as Shine, who was sitting with sharp weapons outside the temple. Trying to save himself from further attack by the gang, the injured Shine ran to the sreekovil of the temple. However, the gang followed him and hacked him to death with the `udaval’ (sword) of the deity of the temple. In addition to death sentence, the judge sentenced the first accused to undergo RI for 43 months and a fine of Rs 60,000 under various sections of the IPC. Apart from life-term and RI, the third accused was sentenced to pay a fine of Rs 2 lakh under various other sections of the IPC.
