INDIA: 43-YEAR-OLD SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPING, MURDERING MINOR

A local court in Badaun, India, pronounced death sentence to a man in a year-old rape and murder case.  
The accused also tried to dispose of the body after murdering the 12-year-old victim. 
Considering the case under the rare of the rarest crime category, Additional District and Sessions Judge SN Tripathi gave this exemplary verdict. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25000 on the accused. 
Akhtar had kidnapped the girl from the fields where she was grazing animals on April 4, 2012. 
The accused, a small-time businessman was nabbed by the locals when he was trying to dispose of the body.  
Later, autopsy on the girl’s body confirmed rape.
The Police recovered girl’s broken bangles and hairs from Akhtar’s house during investigation.
