INDIA. ACHUTHANANDAN'S STAND ON DEATH SENTENCE LAUDED

India’s Anti death Penalty League lauded Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan's demand to adopt a resolution against capital punishment in the next Assembly session. League spokesperson K. Girishkumar said Achuthanandan's gesture would impart strength to the democratic and progressive traditions of the State. It was the first ever instance where a Leaders of the Opposition had officially demanded a resolution in the Assembly demanding termination of capital punishment, he added.
