INDIA: BELGAUM'S DEATH ROW JAIL OVERFLOWS

the Hindalga central jail of Belgaum, India, is facing an acute shortage of barracks. As it's the only jail housing death row inmates, their number has been steadily rising over the years. There are currently 55 men and one woman. Of these 56, eight have sent mercy petitions to the President. The prison's total capacity is around 1,200 prisoners, however it now has 2,000 inmates.
