INDIA: BOMBAY HIGH COURT COMMUTES CONVICT’S DEATH PENALTY TO LIFE

the Bombay High Court in India commuted the death sentence of Ravindra Kamble, 25, convicted for the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl outside the Nerli village in Kolhapur district, to life imprisonment. A division bench of justices Ranjana Desai and VK Tahilramani found the offence was not brutal enough to attract the death penalty and that there were loopholes in the investigation.
