In a sensational verdict, a district court judge in Guntur handed death sentence to three notorious dacoits (bandits) who were involved in as many as 18 crimes including murders in various districts in Andhra Pradesh.
The court observed that the charges framed against the accused — that they formed a gang and unleashed terror on highways as they killed several innocents by abducting them in the guise of taxi drivers — were proved beyond doubt. The accused used to loot the passengers before mercilessly killing them during the night time.
Taking the gravity in the crimes into account, the judge of IV additional district sessions court, (special court to conduct trial into dacoitee and murder cases) G Srinivas sentenced all 3 accused in the case-Yakkaluri Sivakrishna, Akkinapalle Muralikrishna and Pappula Amara Nageswara Rao with death penalty.
