INDIA: COURT COMMUTES DEATH SENTENCE TO LIFE TERM

Pappu Paswan had his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Justices Hemant Gupta and Jaswant Singh commuted the sentence imposed by the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raj Rahul Garg, on July 18, 2009, for murdering and sexually abusing a six-year-old boy.
