INDIA: DEATH PENALTY FOR MURDER OF BJP LEADER

at a local court in Sultanpur, India, Additional District and Sessions Judge (I) A H Khan handed down the death penalty to Pradeep Singh and life sentences to brothers Rakesh Singh and Ashok Mishra after finding them guilty of killing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siyaram Singh. The court fined each Rs 50,000, and released Sabhajit Mishra for lack of evidence. On July 2, 2003, BJP leader Siyaram Singh was shot dead at Bedupura village.
