INDIA: GALLOWS FOR 5 DANDUPALYA MEMBERS

in Bangalore, India, five members of the Dandupalya gang were sentenced to death for various murders and robberies in different parts of the State. The 34th Additional City and Sessions Judge H R Srinivas awarded death sentences to Doddahanuma, Venkatesh, Munikrishna, Nalla Thimma and Lakshmi, for murdering and robbing jewellery worth Rs three lakh Manjula, 64, at Basavanagudi on October 22, 2000. The court also fined them Rs 10,000 each. All five had already been awarded death sentences in 14 other cases.
