INDIA. GUJARAT COURT SENTENCES MAN TO DEATH FOR TERRORISM

a fast track sessions court in Bhuj, India, sentenced to death Shahnawaz Abdul Gafur, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, after finding him guilty of waging war against the nation.
He had reportedly been arrested in Nara village in Lakhapat with two AK-57 rifles, 29 cartridges and Rs 20,000 on May 27, 2001. The court acquitted six local people of giving shelter to Gafur for lack of evidence against them. It was revealed during investigations that Gafur had trained at different camps in Muzaffarabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi. No further details were available.
