INDIA: HC ACQUITS PANDHER IN NITHARI KILLINGS CASE

Justices Imtiyaz Murtaza and K N Pandey of the Allahabad High Court in India acquitted death row prisoner Moninder Singh Pandher but upheld the death sentence against his domestic help Surinder Koli. They were sentenced by a special court in Ghaziabad on February 13, 2009, for the murder of Rimpa Halder, 14, at his house in Noida. Justices observed that "no evidence has been placed on record to show that Pandher was guilty".
