INDIA: JUDGE SLAMS GOVT FOR DELAY IN HANGING AFZAL GURU

Indian Justice Shiv Narayan Dhingra, who sentenced the December 13, 2001, Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru to death in 2002, slammed the Government for the delay in carrying out the punishment. "The Government, which blames the judiciary for backlogs, is struggling with just a few mercy petitions for so many years," said the judge.
