INDIA: PUNE COURT GIVES DEATH SENTENCE TO LABOURER FOR KILLING WIFE

in Pune, India, district principal and session judge PD Desai sentenced construction labourer Ramesh Mahipati Randive, 38, a resident of Old Vashi Naka, near Rankala Lake, to death for killing his pregnant wife Ashwini and trying to kill their two children on August 6, 2008. Ashwini wanted an abortion due to their poor economic condition and this caused frequent quarrels. Ramesh allegedly hit her on the head with a wooden pestle.
