a court interpreter was sent to the gallows by the High Court in Miri, Malaysia, after he was found guilty of trafficking 460 grams of Syabu.
Melvin Chan, 30, was accused of committing the offence of peddling Methamphetamine (Syabu) weighing 460 grams on Jan 29, 2010 in front of Miri Post Office at Jalan Post.
He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and sentenced under Section 39B(2) of the same Act.
In passing the sentence, High Court judge Dato Abdul Rahman Sebli said the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against the accused.
“The prosecution also proved beyond reasonable doubt that the Syabu belonged to the accused,” he said.
