INDIA: RAPE AND MURDER CONVICT GETS DEATH PENALTY

the Bombay High Court sentenced a man convicted of raping and murdering a ten year old girl to death. Harish Rajput murdered the minor by strangling her with a rope. The girl resided in his neighbourhood and her body was recovered from house of the convict. The trial court awarded Rajput a life sentence, however the High Court issued the death penalty saying he had committed a "serious offence."
