INDIA: SC ALLOWS REVIEW OF ITS DEATH PENALTY DECISION

the Indian Supreme Court allowed a review after restoring the death penalty of a murder convict without giving him a hearing. The Assam governor’s decision in January 2002 to commute Ramdeo Chauhan’s death penalty to life imprisonment was set aside in May 2009. Chauhan allegedly killed four members of a family.
