INDIA. YOUTH SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPE, MURDER OF GIRL

first Additional Sessions Judge, K. Sasidharan Nair, sentenced a 27-year-old youth, Thomas alias Shikhamani, to death for raping and murdering a seven-year-old girl in a rubber estate at Puthuserymukku, India, on September 18, 1999. According to the prosecution, the victim, Sheeba, of Kunnuvila Puthenveedu in Nedumangad Taluk, was returning home after delivering food to her father who worked in a nearby rubber estate, when she was kidnapped and raped. Her body was recovered from a nearby marsh.
