Indian suspect Mohammed Afroz, 28, revealed that Al-Qaeda [Osama Bin Laden's organisation] terrorists were planning to crash hijacked jets into the UK Parliament and Tower Bridge.
Afroz, who was attending a British flying school, said he and his gang panicked and fled amid the furor over the attacks in America.
Afroz, who appeared in court in Bombay, also told officials the Indian parliament and Rialto Towers in Melbourne, Australia, were targets.
Indian Home Minister LK Advani said: "He has made some shocking confessions much of which we've been able to verify."
Afroz claims he was working with seven other al-Qaeda members when he fled the £50,000-a-year Cab Air College of Air Training in Bedford soon after September 11.
Afroz has been charged with waging war on the nation and could face execution.
