India's Delhi Police Force acquired a new weapon to fight organised crime with the introduction of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act or MCOCA in Delhi.
Under MCOCA, stringent punishments are prescribed for a person or gangs operating as a syndicate. MCOCA has also given more stinging powers to the prosecuting agency as under the law, any offence which results in a person's death would be punished with a life imprisonment or death penalty and subject to a minimum fine of Rs 1 lakh.
