Indonesia’s National Awakening Party (PKB) asked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to postpone the execution of three men sentenced to death for their role in the Poso conflict: Fabianus Tibo, Dominggus Dasilva and Marinus Riwu.
The party said its decision to ask for the postponement was taken on the basis that the three could reveal the identities of other perpetrators in the conflict.
The Poso District Court in Central Sulawesi sentenced the three to death on April 5, 2005, for allegedly provoking the masses in the Poso riots in 2000. The three were found guilty of encouraging people to get involved in the conflict, which claimed thousands of lives in May-June 2000.
