INDONESIA. PROSECUTORS SEEK APPROVAL FOR EXECUTION OF BALI BOMBERS

prosecutors in Indonesia sought permission from the justice minister to execute the three Bali bombers on death row, the attorney-general's office said.
'The Denpasar Prosecutors' Office... has already asked the justice and human rights minister to be allowed to execute the death sentences in the first Bali bomb case,' spokesman I Wayan Pasek told reporters at his office in remarks broadcast on local radio.
The 2002 Bali bombings killed 202 people, mostly Western holidaymakers. Pasek did not say whether the minister had given approval but said prosecutors were preparing for the executions.
He also said prosecutors had asked to carry out the executions, which would take place by police firing squad, at Nusa Kambangan, an island prison off the south coast of Central Java province where the bombers were being detained.
The three facing death were Imam Samudra, 36; Amrozi, 43' and Ali Ghufron, 46, alias Mukhlas.
Pasek said the families of the three had waived their right to seek a presidential pardon.
