Iran executed six Afghans, an official claimed. The six belonged to the Takhar Province of Afghanistan and they had gone to the neighbouring country in search of work, the governor’s spokesman, Sunatullah Taimori, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said four of the victims were from Kalfagan district and the remaining two were residents of other areas. He added the authorities in Iran were yet to deliver the corpses to their relatives. Quoting Afghan refugees in Iran, Taimori said seven more Afghan death row inmates were set to be executed on 19 April. A tribal elder in the Kalfagan district, Mohammad Islam, who represents Afghan refugees in Iran, said four of the six Afghans executed in Iran belonged to Sarak Bala area of the district. He also confirmed the corpses were still in Iran and accused the Afghan government of doing nothing to rescue death row Afghan citizens in foreign countries.
