According to a report received by Hengaw, the death sentence of Akhtar Ghorbanloo, a victim of child marriage and forced marriage, was carried out on Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024, in the Central Prison of Ahar, East Azerbaijan Province.
According to sources, she was forced into marriage at the age of 17 with a man who was 18 years older than her. Reportedly, Akhtar’s father compelled her to marry the victim due to his wealth. She was accused of killing her husband by giving him lethal pills.
To date, the news of the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the Iranian state media.
According to statistics compiled by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, with the execution of Akhtar Qorbanlou, at least 251 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
The number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2024 amounts to 22.
