At dawn on September 16, 2025, two Gilak prisoners — Gholamreza Hariri, 40, from Sari, and Nemat Khodabakhsh, 42, from Amol, a father of three (one of whom has a disability) — were executed in Sari Central Prison. Hariri had been detained for three years and eight months, and Khodabakhsh for about five years, both on drug-related charges.

As of publication, these executions have not been reported by state-run media.
