According to information Wncri and Hengaw received on October 5, Roya Abbas-zadeh, a 25-year-old Turkish woman, was executed in the Central Prison of Zanjan at dawn on September 24, 2025
She had been sentenced to death four years ago in the murder of her fiancé.
Roya Abbas-zadeh, who resided in a village between Takestan and Zanjan, had reportedly been forced by her family into an arranged and unwanted marriage. Her execution has not yet been reported or confirmed by Iranian state media.
With the execution of Roya Abbas-zadeh, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 39.
According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at least 302 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
