According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was hanged in Ahvaz Sepidar Prison on 25 August 2026. His identity has been established as Yousef Bavi (Yousef Rashed Karim Alhamadi), a 28-year-old Arab man from the Yame'i clan and a resident of Kuye Abdollah (Kut Abdollah) in Ahvaz. He was sentenced for murder.
A source told IHR: “Nine years ago during Muharram, when he was just 19 years old, Yousef was serving tea at a religious refreshment station (mokeb) when several people mocked and disrespected him because of his stutter. As the altercation escalated, a large group attacked him, and Yousef, losing control out of anger, drew a gun and opened fire. Three people were shot in the incident, two of whom were killed, leading to a conflict between the two clans.”
At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
