IRAQ. OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FOR DEATH PENALTY

it was reported that the Baghdad offices of Iraq's prime minister, Ibrahim Jaafari, had been flooded with telegrams supporting the government's decision to reinstate the death penalty for terrorists.
The decision was made in an effort to bring an end to the continuous terrorist and insurgent attacks carried out in Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime. Jaafari's office confirmed in a statement that he had been inundated with telegrams from all parts of Iraqi society backing the decision. There were messages of support from the Young People's Association of Nassiriya, the Al-Tawz Families Organisation, the Turkmen Women's group, the Victory of Islam group, the Al-Faruq Association and students from a political science faculty, who sent a telegram saying: "The students of the political science faculty strongly support Your Excellence in taking this huge step and reinstating the death penalty. This sanction is a right the people enjoy for anyone who kills innocent women, children and men.”
