Iraq's Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, pulled a pistol and executed as many as six suspected insurgents at a Baghdad police station just days before the United States handed control of the country to his interim government, The Sydney Morning Herald reported, citing two people who alleged they witnessed the killings. On its Web site, the newspaper reported the witnesses said the prisoners -- handcuffed and blindfolded -- were lined up in a courtyard beside the maximum-security cellblock in which they were held in a southwestern suburb of Baghdad. The witnesses said Mr. Allawi told onlookers the victims had each killed as many as 50 Iraqis and they "deserved worse than death," the Herald said.
