Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, defence attorney for Moroccan-born French citizen Zacarias Moussaoui, the first suspect indicted in the United States for the September 11 terrorist attacks, will solicit the repatriation of the French national.
Coutant-Peyre said she will ask the French government to solicit Moussaoui's repatriation to prevent him from being tried in a country where he could face the death penalty.
If allowed, the suspected terrorist would then stand trial in France, which bans capital punishment, Coutant-Peyre said.
