It was reported that the Jharkhand High Court had recently commuted the death sentences of Saiyad Rizwan and Chaitali Bhowmick, husband and wife, to life imprisonment. According to the case details, Anupam Roy, Chaitali's uncle, informed the police on August 1, 1999 that his mother Anita Roy, brother-in-law Subhendu Bhowmick, sister Lucky Bhowmick and sister's son Kalyan Bhowmick had been murdered by his niece, Chaitali, and Rizwan. The bodies were recovered from a septic tank in the house.
