forty year old Peter Dougal, the man convicted of the murder of former President of the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association, Lloyd G. Brown, and his companion, Sandra Campbell, was sentenced to death in the Home Circuit Court, Jamaica. His co-defendant Donald Whyte was sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentences were handed down by High Court Justice Norma McIntosh. Both men were convicted in July by a 12-member mixed jury. The jury was however unable to arrive at a verdict for a third accused, Sandra Watt, who was employed as a helper to the couple. Mr Brown and Miss Campbell were found with gunshot wounds at Ms. Campbell's residence in Stony Hill, St. Andrew on June 5, 2005. Dougal was captured a few hours after the killings during a police operation in Vineyard Town, Kingston. The police say they also seized the murder weapon from him.
