The IJCHR signed a contract with the European Union for J $24 million to be pumped into the intense promotion of rehabilitation alternatives to the death penalty.
The project was set to run for two years and would focus on five areas. These included advocacy in death penalty cases, advocacy training, research on the death penalty in Jamaica, criminal justice reform and the establishment of a branch of the IJCHR in Montego Bay.
