the Tokyo High Court upheld the death sentence for Tomoyuki Furusawa, a man convicted of murdering his 12-year-old stepson and the parents of his estranged wife in Yokohama in 2002.

The court was told Furusawa, 40, stabbed to death his stepson Yuki Furusawa, 12, the boy's grandfather Masayoshi Ujikawa, 71, and grandmother Fumiko Ujikawa, 63, on July 31, 2002, at their house in Yokohama after he broke in. He forced his then wife Masako, who had lived with her parents since June 2002 along with Yuki and was seeking a divorce on the grounds that he abused her, into a car, drove to Toyama Prefecture and beat her in the face, according to the ruling.
The court was told Furusawa, 40, stabbed to death his stepson Yuki Furusawa, 12, the boy's grandfather Masayoshi Ujikawa, 71, and grandmother Fumiko Ujikawa, 63, on July 31, 2002, at their house in Yokohama after he broke in.
