the Tokyo High Court, Japan, overturned a lower court's death sentence and gave Daizo Fukushima, a former Saitama Prefecture chicken farm employee, life in prison for injuring a male co-worker and killing the co-worker's wife by setting fire to a dormitory at the farm. Fukushima, 82, was accused of setting the fire in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, on April 5, 1989, inflicting severe burns on Akira Takahara, 70, and killing his wife Hiroko, who was 48 when she died, at the request of chicken farm owner Shunichi Nagai.
