Jessy San Miguel, 29, of Hispanic origin, was put to death by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing Michael John Phelan, a 28 year old, white male, during a hold-up on 26th January 1991. He was the 24th person to be executed in the State during the year, No 223 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 52nd to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 650 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
