John Satterwhite, 53, black, was executed by lethal injection. He had been convicted of killing Nary Francis Davis, white, during a hold-up on 12th March 1979. He was the 29th person to be executed in the State during the year, No 228 since the State resumed executions in 1974. He was the 61st to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 658 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
