judges Jarad, Atoun and Nahar of the Jordanian Criminal Court sentenced a man to death for murdering his friend on March 6, 2006. He allegedly choked his friend to death while attempting to molest him at his home.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Ayman Ghzawi had asked the court to hand down the maximum punishment.
Three others were acquitted for lack of evidence.
The verdict will automatically be reviewed by the Court of Cassation within the next 30 days.
