Juan Garza second federal victim in 8 days

June 19th: Juan Raul Garza was executed by Federal authorities in Terre Haute, Indiana on Tuesday morning

1 MIN READ
Juan Raul Garza became the second convict in the United States to be executed at federal level within the space of eights days. He was pronounced dead at 7:09a.m. local time.

“With this execution President Bush, who arrived in the White House on a road paved with executed bodies, shows he wants to continue down the same path. Bush, who with the execution of McVeigh put an end to a 38 year period in which no executions at Federal level had taken place, confirmed he wants to portray the United Sates to the rest of the world as a country which executes, and himself as a President of the US much like he was Governor of Texas. The most alarming fact is that Bush ignored completely and voluntarily the ongoing debate in his country on whether it is opportune or not to resort to the death penalty. There is in fact an ever increasing number of Governors in the united states who show caution when resorting to the death penalty, taking into consideration proposals for introductions of legal moratoria on executions. Never as in recent months has public opinion in favour of the death penalty been this low.”
