Judges rejected the latest appeal by Kenny Richey, the Scot on death row in America

1 MIN READ
Judges rejected the latest appeal by Kenny Richey, the Scot on death row in America. Reprieve, the human rights charity, said it was dismayed by the attitude of the Ohio Supreme Court. The Sixth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals had asked the state court for guidance on whether Richey could be executed if there was no evidence he planned the victim's death. The state court refused to consider the issue, declining to take into account any legal arguments. The case returned to a federal court where Richey was only two steps away from death. Every MP and MSP had been asked to authorise a brief by the Scottish lawyer, Mungo Bovey, QC. Human rights groups, including Reprieve and Amnesty, would be calling on MPs and MSPs to support Richey in the coming days.
