June 25/26 2002: Beijing Number One and Number Two Intermediate People's Courts separately executed six alleged drug criminals including Xu Chunming (1776 2504 2494), Chen Baohua (7115 1405 5478), Ma Jiyuan (7456 4949 0337), Li Bangcai (2621 6721 2088), Wang Daiyong (3769 1129 0516) and Huang Youcai (7806 0327 2088), the Beijing Daily reported.
The paper reported that from January to June 2002, Beijing courts tried 300 drug cases involving 381 people, an increase of 20 per cent compared to the same period in 2001.
Some 310 people were sentenced to five-year terms of imprisonment and above. From January to May 2002, there were 54 female drug criminals, 19 per cent of the total number.
Some 29 to 10 per cent of the drug criminals were under the age of 25.
