Justice Lakvinder Wallia of Gaborone High Court has sentenced Patrick Gabaakanye (54) of Serowe to death for the murder of Mr Rapula Serojane (74) of Ga-Mosusu lands in Kweneng District. After killing Mr Serojane with a hard object, Gabaakanye stole the victim's cellphone, utensils such as cups and spoons, tupperware containers and an Omega radio. Justice Wallia also sentenced Gabaakanye to five years imprisonment for unlawful wounding and backdated the sentence to the time Gabaakanye was incarcerated. He had pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He advised Gabaakanye to appeal the death sentence within a period of six weeks from the date of sentence otherwise the sentence would remain in force. The co-accused, Daniel Semi and Gaolatlhe Thusang were given the same capital sentence by Justice Leburu last year.
